THERAPIST

ABOUT HELEN
"An authentic and joyous life"
My work as a therapist was born of deep fascination for what makes people tick, what happened to them, what motivates them, and what causes the myriad of roadblocks that show up to derail simple human happiness. This fascination began as an actor and writer endeavouring to understand characters, then as a Corporate Trainer & Executive Coach working to enhance the potential in people’s work and business lives, where all too often I would hear clients say “that’s exactly what my partner says about me!” Behaviours that were blocking them at work were mirroring what was showing up in their private lives. Now as a therapist my greatest passion is to support people to be free from whatever it is that is holding them back from living a full, exciting and meaningful life - whether at work or in their personal worlds. It would be my privilege to work with you and be part of your journey to an authentic and joyous life.
Helen uses a variety of modalities when treating clients including Person Centred, Mindfulness, IFS, ACT, CBT, Gestalt and other somatic methodology. Her practices are Trauma Informed, LGBTQIA+ & Neurodiverse Affirming.

Couples Therapy
People are wired for connection, and desiring a fulfilling intimate partnership is a very natural instinct. However relationships can for many be a baffling process that have us engaging in destructive behaviours and relationships that create more pain and disconnection than love and intimacy. Couples counselling can assist in understanding why we may be engaging in unhealthy patterns of behaviour, and build skills to assist in moving towards behaviours that enable us to have the love, sex and intimacy we desire while maintaining long-lasting and fulfilling partnerships.

Group Therapy
Group therapy is a powerful way to develop important relational skills that may prove challenging for many individuals who did not have the opportunity to explore them in their developmental years. Working in groups not only allows individuals to develop social skills, but can assist with a variety of issues such as low self-esteem, assertiveness, and boundary setting. Interpersonal groups focus on interactions in the present moment and the associated thoughts, feelings, and emotions that come to the surface. They assist people in being able to relate better with others and to feel better about themselves. The group experience can create a greater capacity to establish healthy boundaries with others, contributing to more fulfilling and enjoyable relationships.

SPECIAL FOCUS TREATMENTS
Addictions
Facing the possibility that we may have an addiction can be confronting, and tragically the stigma of addiction often prevents people from getting the help they need. Understanding addiction, how it can take hold, and what is required to live free of its grip is essential to recovery. When clients are armed with the facts, guided to the right support and held through the journey of healing happy and joyous lives are possible.
